Overall nice, historical hotel with, great location to explore Tianjin. However during our stay there were some drawbacks:
- The rooms to the rear of the old part of the building are really noisy, even though the windows and doors have been replaced with modern ones. It's not understandable to me why a five star hotel replaces windows and balcony doors with insufficient ones if they decide to do so.
- We wanted to use the pool/wellness area, which was closed due to "technical issues". No further explanation, compensation etc. was given and this has not been communicated during the booking or elsewhere.
- We showed up at 10:30 sharp for breakfast (which was until 10:30 at least) and were sent away since "there's nothing left". Also, no compensation was offered except for some cheap fridge magnet from the hotel's museum.
Overall, value for money is questionable (1600 RMB for one night). Next time I will choose a hotel of an established international chain, such as Shangri-La.
