The hotel was quite empty when we visited. Good value for the money. The hotel is a bit old and worn out, but clean. The bed was really good. Spacious breakfast restaurant with good selection of breakfast foods. Friendly staff. There’s also a dinner restaurant, but it was closed during out stay. Short walk to town center.

Sleeping is a fundamental aspect of any hotel stay. The hotel provided me with a unsatisfactory single bed without a mattress just a single mattress topper and low quality bedding -Therefore, a very uncomfortable stay and sleepless nights .Sleep

Hotel Kajanus was built in 1986 and is located at 1km walking distance of the Kajaani railway-station. A taxi ride will set you back €14. The hotel offers 181 rooms over 5 floors. Small sauna in the basement and good Wi-Fi. The 19-eighties no-frill decoration & furniture provides an insipid atmosphere. Complimentary tea & coffee in the lobby. Staffs are friendly. Our spacious room was adequately furnished and decorated, with a good twin bed, desk & chair, club-chair & table, bench that can be turned into a twin bed, 2 wardrobes, fridge, and flat-screen TV. Window can be opened. Previously our room were 2 rooms, see the attached floor plan. We had 2 small separate bathrooms with toilet, washbasin and shower. All was clean. A modest buffet breakfast is served: bread & tiny croissants, cold cuts & cheeses, meat balls, not tasty looking scrambled-eggs, boiled eggs, butter & marmalade, some gluten-free items, juices, porridge & cereals, milk & yoghurts, water, tea & coffee. When you seek acceptable comfort in a practical no-nonsense hotel, Kajanus is the place for you.

The hotel and restaurant facility is great. The hotel is nice, friendly staff, with clean rooms. The breakfast buffet is excellent, with great morning options. The restaurant has a small but tasty selection for dinner. The bar has a reasonable selection at reasonable prices for the area. The swimming pool facility are available for a small fee (7.40 EUR), with a direct entrance from inside the hotel. The staff were very friendly and the location is a very short walk across the bridge into Kajaani city center. The only down side was the gym. It is supposed to be accessible via an app with a code given by the hotel. The app was absolutely useless in English - no functionality at all. The front desk staff tried to help get it to work in the Finnish language version, but even they couldn’t get it sorted out for me. No access, so basically no gym facilities. This was the only critique for the weeklong stay.

The service and menu were excellent in the restaurant, especially the Fish&Chips was extraordinary good! I warmly recommend this! The restaurant was peaceful and you could enjoy river wiew when dining

It was cool vacation in Kajaani! Room is clean and comfortable. Breakfast in Scandic traditional delicious. Good children room. But it’s need a kettle in family room. Will arrive again with great pleasure!

No kettle coffe/tea in room. No remote to TV , received one later from reception. No info in advance that fitness room was not available. Good deal however with the pool area nearby. Good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. However they were too few during breakfast hours

Room has too noice air ventilation during night. It was not possible to control it. Refrigerator was full of ice an it needs smelting One night lamp was broken Tv remote control unit has low batteries

One night stay at the hotel. Two adults and two kids. Very clean and a comfortable room. Nice and helpfull staff, especially at the breakfast place, also breakfast itself was very good. Second time at this hotel and will come again.
