I attended a funeral wake of a dear friend at Abbey House in a lovely room ,overlooking the gardens. The buffet was fresh and well displayed. Attentive staff ,constantly offering drinks, beverages. Zach was our personal member of staff who was excellent. He has excellent inter personal skills and related to everyone at our table. All staff were good but Zach deserves a special mention. I booked this hotel as a mini-honeymoon, on the way back from Gretna Green, and we weren't disappointed. I'd booked a deluxe double room, and emailed to say we were staying as a mini-honeymoon, and when we checked in we'd been upgraded to a suite. This was a lovely surprise, as there was a wedding on at the hotel that weekend, plus it was a bank holiday, so we really didn't think it would have been an option. Everything was great, the hotel is stunning and huge! The staff are great, in particular the 'young-uns' in the bar and restaurant, they work so hard and are incredibly polite and professional. We will definitely stay again, it's a gorgeous place, thank you!

The best in the area. A historical building with a Beautiful mix of traditional and modern decor, manicured gardens and delicious food. Staff are helpful at a brilliant price, we visit family regularly and I wouldn’t stay in any other hotel.

This was our 4th stay at this gorgeous hotel. We love it so much. We had a different room this time, which we were not just as keen on - simply from a mobility point of view - it would be absolutely perfect in general. We know now which room to ask for when we come. The only downside this time, and absolutely no fault of the hotel staff, was the noise from the guests in the room above us. We were in a ground floor room and sitting relaxing after dinner when they started stomping around for what must've been a good hour and a half, opening and closing drawers, and thudding around. I was listening to music on my MP3 player and could STILL hear them! This went on until well after midnight and then started up again around 6.30am so we didn't have as good a sleep as we would have expected. There was no wedding on that day so it was just regular guests with no consideration for others. We ate in Oscars and it was their 10th birthday so they had a set 3 course menu on. We hadn't been aware that it was only the set menu being served, and being rather fussy eaters, didn't like any of the starters or the desserts so the waiter very kindly brought the main menu over and told us which dishes they would be able to do for us from it instead. This I felt was above and beyond, and we were so grateful. The beds in this hotel are seriously comfy - lovely and firm. The staff are just superb.

From the planning stages to the wedding day itself you guys have been fantastic! Always happy to help & go above an beyond to make sure everything was running smoothly. The day was amazing from start to finish. The food was fantastic & the rooms were lovely! We had the best time and that’s all down to these guys! A beautiful hotel in fabulous grounds. The staff, food, rooms, grounds, everything was absolutely superb. Every aspect of the property is immaculately kept. We’ve stayed here several times and have never been disappointed. Nothing is too much trouble for staff there. Would highly recommend it.

We didn’t stay in the hotel but we went for a meal and drinks. Food was great as was the service. Special recognition to the amazing team that work at the bar. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so polite and engaging. They are a credit to Abbey House. Archie, Oliver and Reece you deserve a big Pat on the back . Thanks for being so lovely. We are locals so we will be back soon.

I booked this hotel for my boyfriends 21st birthday and it is definitely the best hotel we’ve visited in a while. The cleanliness, service, and meals were outstanding, and the breakfast was especially great. The customer service was top-notch, very welcoming, and made you feel at home. The queen size bed was incredibly comfortable, i’ve never slept on a bed that good before. The view from our window was also fantastic, adding the overall experience. Very luxurious. Thank you.

Beautiful building tasteful interior design which has retained the original features. Food was excellent including the breakfast. Staff were really amazing, friendly . helpful and knowledgeable about the buildings and paintings . Overall the stay was a real pleasure .
