ザ カバーフェイドゥ ホテル(Cabarfeidh Hotel)

Been on the to-do list for a while - eat at the Caber. Staff - excellent. Young, informed, just really good. Menu - a good range with very clear allergens listed. Drinks - good cocktails, decent wine list. Food - really good. The chocolate sister was smazing. Atmosphere - despite being quite empty was good.

We were in a party and had to be moved to this hotel. The staff were excellent . We were given 2 of the newer rooms which were clean, tidy and fresh. The staff were really helpful, thoughtful and accommodating.

A very poor service yesterday evening. We were a table of three and had over an hour wait for main course. On arrival accompanying potatoes were completely cold. Waiting staff apologised and offered to swap them. The replacement arrived and these were warm on the outside but totally frozen inside. The restaurant manager apologised and took the plate away offering free deserts but due to general lack of service and quality we declined. Caberfeidh prices have risen exponentially over the past year it’s just a shame the quality seems to be going in the opposite direction.

This is one of the best hotels in stornoway. Rooms are average relative to some of the best hotels around the world but it was nice for the price and town it’s in. The service and restaurant was great and classy. Tasty free continental breakfast too.

Good hotel. We had been transferred to this hotel after a disastrous stay at a previous hotel Doune Braes. The rooms we were offered were excellent. Clean newly decorated and fresh. The staff were excellent and friendly. I was pleased with the overall service

Great location. Beautiful Lews castle grounds & museum. We were able to go for early morning walks before breakfast.

Very expensive, we stayed midweek on business, rooms are extremely dated, no soundproofing at all, barely any wifi in the room. Just very tired throughout, carpets faded, beds not great, chips in the furniture, for over £210 per night for bed and breakfast I really expected so much more. Breakfast was ok, but not great, I tried four things in my for days and not one was what you could say was great. Staff were friendly.

This hotel was average. I was given a tiny room with a single bed but it was comfortable and I'm sure there are better rooms available. The staff were friendly in the restaurants but the bar staff were very rude. I was told she was too busy to serve me a drink at the main bar and sent to the conference room with no atmosphere. The food was average. No water available again, which seems to be a theme in Scottish hotels. The hotel itself is in quite a busy location by the roundabout in Stornoway and I was kept awake until 4.30am by guests partying in the room next to me. I was also given a room with the view of the car park and a pile of waste. However, for a one night stop over, this hotel will serve it's purpose.

Stayed for two nights with a coach party. Room 22 was a well appointed room with ample storage and a good hospitality tray. The kettle was however too large to fit under the tap. A split plastic bath panel did look out of place. The evening meal was excellent and served to very high standard. The waiting staff were friendly and only too happy to cater for our needs, from our table we could see the kitchen and how everyone worked so smartly. On the second night the line manager was apparent, not sure why he was continually walking from kitchen to bar, but the staff were certainly aware, and eventually he did carry some plates. The hotel is a little way from the centre of stornaway but had everything for a comfortable stay. The main road outside may be a little noisy for front facing rooms.
