Wow! Usually, we try not to book any hotel below 4 stars, not for luxury reasons but just wanting basics in place as I am handicapped. However, seems we made a BIG mistake thinking that way! Recently, we took an unplanned trip to the Northern area in Sweden. ÖRNSKÖLDSVIK was our destination for one night. Normally, as I wrote I would of booked a hotel Of 4 stars, but having points available to use when I booked our night I booked a hotel rated at 3 stars. So, First Hotel Statt ÖRNSKÖLDSVIK Sweden. Reading the recensions I did not expect a lot from the hotel. WRONG! On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome and directions on how to reach the hotel parking area. After parking, we were given our room key as well as instructions of beverages available to guests free of charge. The hotel was in a very old historically interesting building from the outside again, we did not expect much But.....the interior was architecturally wonderful! While the carpets and surface items in the hotel are worn, the design in the interior makes a huge positive impression. The reception area had a cozy place for guests to sit and relax. Off to the side was a small snack area to buy cold drinks or partake in free coffee and tea. Going up to our room in an old fashioned elevator , we were again delighted as we stepped out at the architectural design of the interior. It was like stepping back into history. We then adjourned to our room that we found to be clean as well as very comfortable with all the conveniences you could ask for. The beds were super comfortable. Any time we interacted with the hotel personnel we found them to be courteous, warm professionals that set a high standard for customer service. Breakfast was a great experience. It surpassed even some of the more upscale hotels we have stayed at. An absolutely wonderful breakfast buffet. Attractively arranged foods and plenty of different varieties. The restaurant atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable. The personnel were continually active cleaning up after guests as well as restocking all parts of the buffet tables. I reread many resencions about this hotel and decided, I needed to write a review. Many that like standard cookie cutter hotels will disagree with me and thats fine. However, if your looking for a hotel that is comfortable, has a great breakfast buffet, warm and cozy atmosphere with historical architecture to look upon, you have to try this hotel! The Personnel are absolutely customer service gold star professionals. The price is extremely reasonable. The location near the harbor makes a wonderful walking area to look at. The stone balcony the hotel has that faces the harbor that is open in summer gives a wonderful relaxing area to be. So, while the interior is old (they are currently updating guest rooms) , the architecture, the atmosphere, the personnel make this hotel worthy of 5 gold stars, Service, Food, all of extremely high quality. There is also a wonderful history

Nice hotel, good location and services. But a very noisy environment with high music and cars driving around almost the whole night. This affected the sleep in a bad way. This situation is not the hotel managements fault, but the society as whole must act if the attractiveness of the city will resist.

Great location in the city center. Spacy and comfortable rooms. Nice breakfast. We only stayed for one night and had other dinner plans but if we had stayed another night we had probably tried the hotel restaurant. Fair price. Nothing to complain.

Old style hotel in the city center room looks a bit old but very clean and good bed quality. Breakfast very nice with huge hall very quiet and convenient. Parking facility very useful behind the hotel with easy access to the hotel.

Great location and staff . But the property is old and run down and badly needs renovation. If you are fan of the Old manual key system and like the feel from 80's then it will meet your expectations. But if modern and digital feel is what you seek, then this is not the place.

A cozy. romantic and heart warming stay att this very nice and historic hotel in the heart of Övik - just loved it! Great breakfast, nice, warm and clean rooms made this a fantastic setting for a wonderful stay!

The breakfast was very good and the overall atmosphere in this old hotel. However the room was a dissaster. Shower wall almost not working, Toilet seat not fit. Bed old and more like a hammok.Lights not working. WiFi instructions in German. If I can chose another hotel next time in Örnsköldsvik I will do so.
