The rooms are very basic and have an old-school charm. Our room was satisfactorily clean and had an air purifier in addition to the heat/ac unit, which was appreciated. A hair dryer is provided as well as liquid hand soap and body wash mounted on the walls. No suitcase stand is provided but there is one chair in the room. Check in was easy and we left the door keys on the dresser at checkout. Our room was located around the back of the motel where it seemed that there were long-term guests that were loud late into the evenings and early in the mornings while the front of the motel appeared to be mostly empty, but the location on Manteo was nice and we were able to walk to several nearby stores and restaurants.

It was quiet during the day but, after 9 pm it got a bit more active which was uncomfortable for a single woman with small children and I felt a unsafe. I ended up putting everything in front of the door and my keys over top of the chain due to the slight Gap and I felt as though someone could stick something through there. I would stay again but with a man in tow.

2nd stay here. Checkin is easy. Less than 5 mins. Room was clean. The sink faucet was loose and came off when turn on. My husband was able to get it back on to use it. Coffee was left but no coffee cups. Other than that our stay was perfect. No problems. Will definitely stay again soon. Thank you!

I have had fairly good experiences with recommended hotels and motels. The positive reviews I got for the Heart of Manteo must have come from spring or summer visitors. I realize off-season is a time to renovate and recover, but not all of us are summer travelers. Just a little attention to details can make or break a stay. My biggest complaint was noise. As noted in my check-in review, the door was poorly insulated, light very evident around the entirety. Conversations and engine sounds were very loud, especially after 11 o'clock p.m. Add to this the morning crews wheeling back and forth outside in extra-squeaky carts, talking either on their phones or to disembodied friends about various miseries. The Heater/ AC was a bit loud as well, kept running by the imbalance of temperature control due to the insulation problem. This was a problem for the TV, and I had to keep turning the volume up and down as a result. I was hopeful it did not unduly disturb the folks on either side of me. I say this only because I could hear some of the folks in the next room talking and shouting, as well as their TV. The room itself was adequate, clean and well-stocked. I was a little concerned about loose fixtures in the sink and the fridge did need a defrosting. Nothing catastrophic. Like I said, off-season is a great time to deal with seasonal problems, but off-season guests should be considered as valuable. Especially if you want them back. I won't be.

There are super intense spot lights for parking lot in back that make it impossible to sleep

The Heart of Manteo is now our go-to for accommodations for our fishing trips. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, and the location off the beach makes it much less expensive than the other options. All we need is safe, clean, comfortable accommodations. This place is perfect for our needs.

Never experienced a remote/virtual Zoom check-in before, but it went smoothly and we were in our room quickly.

They could not find my reservation at checkin and made me wait for more than 30 minutes. I was very displeased with my experience and vacated a day before. The property manager is a cheat. He promised to refund my unused day’s stay fee but he didn’t. All my phone calls went wasted. Never going anywhere close to the hotel again. Bathroom is bigger than main room. Not convenient to stay.

Excellent location with great pricing. Checking in and out was easy with really great customer service. Super happy with my stay.
