First the good...I really enjoyed the room. Very comfortable and well laid out. The view from the balcony is fantastic and it was quiet as it is far enough away from the city noise that you get with other small hotels in LA. The hotel is on the same property as Yamashiro...a classic Hollywood Japanese restaurant. There is also a great coffee shop on site called Flowering Tree where I enjoyed one of the best cappuccinos I've ever had. They also have great breakfast and lunch options. Overall, I will stay here again. Now that I know how things work a little better...it is unique...it will be one of my go to hotels in LA.
Some things to be aware of...there is no elevator. I came in through the gate, walked down to the hotel, after a full day of travel I had to carry my bags up lots of steps to the 4th floor. The security hold is $250.00. This is high for a hotel with few amenities. Even though you can walk ""down" to restaurants and shops in 10 to 15 minutes, I would not suggest walking back up to the hotel. It's a steep climb on narrow streets. Be prepared to UBER. Also, make sure your phone is well charged. Your digital key to your room is on your phone. There was no real work space in the room but camping out at the Flowering Tree to work is not a bad option.
I would suggest better instructions on how to get in and out of the property. After one day I learned my way around. For some that learning curve can be stressful and will ruin their overall experience.
