ザ オークニー ホテル(The Orkney Hotel)

A fantastic location with free car parking & also fantastic staff (special shout out for Sophie, Mike & Josh): nothing was too much trouble. Very warm, comfortable room and the food was excellent. We enjoyed time in the bar in the evenings (over 1,000 whiskies available!)

I truly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, the bed and bath were comfortable, and it was in a great location. The bar and pub were comfortable and friendly to hang out and the food was good. I would definitely stay here again and recommend.

I have stopped in to this gem of hotel/bar several times while working in Kirkwall and surrounding area. Always a friendly smile at the bar where you can order dinner as well as unbelievable selection of whisky, beer, drinks which I assume they are known for. Have spoken to them about bringing the other half for holiday when I get a chance, they said to ring anytime direct. Much appreciated, and definitely recommend.

The bar had an odorous smell to it and the beer tasted off. When we asked the barman to swap the beer for something more fresh, he took personal insult and argued with us. So we left and went to the Ayre hotel on the waterfront.

Booked an executive single room in this vintage hotel that is not without its charms. It has all the basics but feels a bit dark and musty. It is in a good location in the middle of the old town, close to restaurants and shops, and there is a Coop grocery store just a block away. It is nice to have a restaurant where you can get dinner or a drink and the food is fine.

Four night stay. Great location, super helpful and friendly staff. Delicious breakfasts. Would very happily stay agsin

I do agree with some of the comments that the property has a few minors issues or quick fixes to do like a bath sealer to redo. However, the room was spacious, the restaurant / bar very decent and staff was polite. It had thin walls so be prepared to hear a bit of the neighbors or the dinner area in the morning / evenings.

I have started coming to Orkney fairly regularly and there is nowhere better for a weekend escape than this place. The setting is comfortable and the whisky bar next door is a much appreciated little space of heaven. I was really taken by the customer service. From breakfast in the morning, Liz and the rest of her team provided a friendly service, ensuring coffee was topped up and providing informative local information. I noticed how particular they were with other customers requests and how willing they were to meet their expectations. For a comfortable and satisfying stay, I would look no further. The central location in Kirkwall is also handy for sightseeing and enjoying the rich food and drink offering of Kirkwall and the surrounding area.

We went to this cute whiskey bar in Kirkwall and we had dinner with friends. The food was excellent and the tasting whiskey was a really nice experience. The ambiance was old English country. We really had a good time and met nice people. We would highly recommend if you are in Kirkwall Orkney Islands.
