ゲストハウス バウサル(Guesthouse Basar)

This guesthouse was very nice and clean, very very clean. Our host Gagga was super sweet and accommodating. She picked us up at the ferry and dropped us at the house. She loves to drive and shows the island well. She is so proud of her homeland. She has a lot of knowledge of Iceland and is so willing to share. She was willing to do anything for us. Not only did she provide adequate towels, but wash clothes! Not something I have seen in Iceland and Europe. The shower and water pressure was great! The marker for the Arctic Circle is not too far away. A nice little hike up and then down and back again. So worth the effort.

Mrs. Gaga picks you up at ferry and will drive you anywhere you want to go on the island. Plethora of information about the history of Grimsey. Very helpful, pleasant and friendly. Rooms and guest house clean and very comfortable. Highly recommend you visit and hike to the arctic circle marker.

Gaga was a very accomodating host! Inn was very clean and great rooms and beds! Shared her knowledge of the island! Great storytelling!! Located on the path to the Artic Circle marker! Our stay felt very personal and I would highly recommend !!

Nothing was too much trouble for the family who runs Basar. We were met off the plane by a smiling face and experienced helpfulness and efficiency from beginning to end. If we wanted a lift, a member of the family would turn up. Some guests wanted a boat ride and the family organised. The guesthouse is very well equipped and of course the island is awesomely beautiful. The location is perfect, a short walk to the harbour and moments away from cliffs and beaches with hundreds of puffins. If you want truly wild nd magnificent, this is it. We were on the island for summer solstice celebrations and were invited to the fish buffet prepared by the women of the island which was a wonderful experience.

Grimsey island is a bird watcher paradise. The guesthouse is the ultimate in hospitality. It Was raining when the ferry docked and even though the distance to the guest house is minimal, Asloug was waiting to pick us up with a smile... both Asloug and Gagga were always ready to drive us around if we were tired of walking (we never tired). And were knowledgeable about the island, history and great spots. If we go back to Grimsey, we will stay there again.
