"We can't thank the manager and our host enough for the warm welcome we received at Villa Caterina"............... Hotel grounds & Rooms, The hotel is an old colonial home converted and hence, is cozy and small. The rooms however are large enough. We got a sea-facing room in the main old house building area and hence, enjoyed a big old bed, old heavy wardrobes, old windows and old heavy doors - which we loved, loved, loved - us being suckers of old, bygone things. The bathroom however, was modern with a sun roof streaming in natural light. It was quite spacious. Most of the rooms in the hotel are sea-facing. Hotel grounds has a neat sea-facing pool among other things. It was a delight to swim in after a day out in the hot sun of galle. We enjoyed free wi-fi. However, it didn't reach the rooms. One can use it in the hotel reception area. Food & Service, Food can be arranged in-house on request. Breakfast was free. The service was exceptional. We received so much help from the staff. From a scooter hire to food recommendations, places to go, etc. Sweet gesture by the assistant manager, I had admired the beautiful plants on the premises and had conveyed the same to the manager one day. When we were leaving, her daughter (Assistant) promptly had packed up a plant for me to carry to Germany that was such a sweet gesture! Also, we had some misunderstandings of the room rates because we had to pay more than mentioned on the website. Then the assistant manager explained the incident clearly & it happened due to the exchange rates of dollars. However, she understood the situation and offered us a reasonable discount. So it was not a big loss for us & for the hotel tool. We were impressed by her attitude. Hope to visit your hotel on our next visit too. (I’m sure this will be a good tip for other visitors as well. please check the rates with your currency before booking guys. We were lucky this time lol…………..) Hope this review will help.
