Very pleased with this hotel. Staff professional, helpful and friendly. Room good size, appeared to be recently refurbished. Good size bathroom. Very pet friendly hotel. Restaurant quality superb. Breakfast good quality and value. Great location for walks along the river bank and ease of access to old town and historical sites.

Stayed for one night on a motorcycle tour. Plenty of parking, good accessible location and good restaurant

Great hotel, we arrived on a motorbike and parked with ease, we hadn’t prebooked, but checking in was easy and quick, and we got a super room overlooking the river. We ate at the restaurant and food was delicious, with a nice atmosphere and friendly efficient staff.

We returned as we were so pleased with our visit last year for the same dates, and could not wait for a repeat visit. But the room was good and clean and as last year over looked the river. That was were things changed with the dineing, we pre booked our meals but this was not done and we were pushed in a corner. Logis have a discount sceem that we were registered for but the discount for us was refused. We will not be back .

It was basically clean... That's the positive No WIFI.. They claim they offer it but with down load speeds in the aingle digits, and upload worse, its not wifi. You can't order off the menu, they just serve bus tour menus The bar is a pretend bar.. at 5 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon the deskclerk was also the bartender who could aerve beer but not wine (this is France if you're reading)... Breakfast allows only full purchase, although we were told we could have coffee... Expecting to pay the 11 € each for the 2 cups we had this morning. Staff wants nothing to do with English speaking people. Back to WIFI.. Some people actually nned it to make sure they can complete a teip they've been planning for a year... this place could careless... customers are €€ to them... bus loads of lemmings coming tomorrow...

La Chartreuse is a modern, albeit ugly-looking, riverside hotel just across the main bridge (the D620) from the town centre, so it is very handily placed. There is parking just outside the hotel with further spaces just across the road. There is also a public car park next to the hotel. Check in was friendly and efficient and our river view room was smart and comfortable and had air conditioning, a fridge and a little balcony area with table and chair. Breakfast was very good with splendid fruit salad, yogurts etc along with decent cheeses, cold meats and hard boiled eggs. The bread was plentiful (and possibly the best baguettes we have ever had) and although the coffee is from a machine it is pretty good. Service throughout has been top class and we would certainly use this hotel again.

We arrived at the hotel, after a 5-hour drive. The receptionist was delightful and helpful. He allocated our room quickly and efficiently. We asked whether we should book the restaurant for the evening meal. He told us it was advised. The restaurant has a terrasse overlooking the river. Very pretty. We booked a table and specially asked whether we could have a table right by the river. We were told it was arranged. He even put a little green cross against our booking to ensure we got it. We were told we could arrive at “any time between 7pm and 9pm for our table”. Entering the room, the view of the river Lot is amazing. We settled down and got ready. After a short stroll in town, we returned at 7pm to take our table. Only one other couple were in the restaurant. Otherwise, it was empty. Then it all started to go wrong. A man appeared and took us to a table on the terrasse, but as far away from the river as possible. I explained that we had booked a table right next to it, and had been told by the receptionist that it was done. I speak fluent French, so there was no misunderstanding. I was polite. The man replied to my statement that we had been told we would have a riverside table with the words “et Moi, je dis “Non,””. (I am saying “no!”). No apology, no statement as to why. When I tried again to ask him why, he repeated, even more firmly, “et Moi je dis Non!” His rudeness was staggering! I asked him who he was. He told me “I am Lionel and I am the Owner and Manager of this hotel”. It is unusual, even in France, to have such a dreadful level of customer service these days. The “owner” was rude and made no attempt to be conciliatory or polite. We ate elsewhere. On return to the hotel, it was obvious that some tables, exactly where we had asked to sit, had not been used. We do not recommend this restaurant or hotel.

First room awful, second room better. Reception staff (1 young female in particular), poor attitude. Could not get drinks from bar without searching for member of staff. Hotel is tired, needs revamp. Carpets smell, decor is in poor condition. Would not recommend.
