ザ グレート ハウス(The Great House Inn)

Outside of the fact that there were stains on the sheets and the 3 neighboring dogs at a personal property barking in all hours of the night, the hotel rate averages the same rate as the hotel across the street and next door. It’s apparent that city power outages are common as they had emergency lights in the rooms but no generators while the other hotels do. Unacceptable to charge the same rate. Furthermore no one was on property to explain what happened - allegedly security was on property but somehow nowhere near the front of the hotel when we tried to find out what was going on.

This hotel was fine. The air conditioning worked and the rooms were clean. There biggest issues: No on site dining (in January 2024), the place next door has very noisy dogs, and the area surrounding the hotel is rough. That said, it is a good option for budget travelers hoping to stay in Belize City since it is close to the boat facilities to San Pedro and Cay Culker. There are two higher quality hotels next door, but they are significantly more expensive.

This place is a gem! A very unique property with historical value and maintained with all the modern comforts. My mother and two adult daughters shared a double queen room and we had so much space with a bay window seating. The pool and outdoor seating areas are beautiful and the continental breakfast was a nice bonus. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this for a stay in Belize City.

Only stayed one night. Would be much better rating if they had a full b'fast option. Historical house. Had to go across the street to the Radisson for a coffee and baked goods for b'fast.

I enjoyed my stay at The Great House Inn! The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The location is excellent and easy walking distance to the two water taxis, to multiple restaurants, and the Baron Bliss Lighthouse. Both of the tours I booked offered pick-up from the hotel also. My room was big and comfortable with a ceiling fan and an efficient AC unit. There was a porch swing outside my room with a partial view to the Caribbean Sea. I would definitely stay here again!

This is an amazing place to stay. Very nice room. Very walkable. Easy 10 minute walk to water taxi terminal. Super nice staff and great continental breakfast.

Old world character, helpful staff, fresh bananas every morning, one block from the water, restaurants in walking distance

Fine property in the nicest part of Belize City- around the hotel felt safe. Very friendly and helpful staff, colonial style old fashioned rooms with decent beds and clean bathrooms. Pool is new and nice (looks like a restaurant is also being built). Not a ton of dining in the city but a couple good options close by. Decent value for price. It’s nicer and better located than the cheaper Ramada, and a touch under the price and amenities and qualities of the Raddison next door- a nice middle ground. Bring earplugs for the Belize City dogs and birds at night and early morning.

We stayed 2 nights before heading to the islands. The Great House was clean and charming with great character. Loved all the wraparound porches. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Close to the water and easy walk to the water taxi.
